Different types of vertigo or dizziness that we effectively help in Anderson SC

  1. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV): Episodes of dizziness and sensation of spinning with certain head movements. BPPV occurs when calcium crystals called otoconia move out of the utricle of the inner ear and migrate into one of the semi-circular canals – usually the posterior canal. This causes a person to feel a sensation of spinning.
  2. Cervicogenic Vertigo or Dizziness: A sensation of dizziness or light-headedness associated with neck pain or headaches. It usually presents after trauma to the upper neck, and is most commonly caused by car accidents.
  3. Orthostatic Presyncope or Orthostatic Hypotension: Dizziness or light-headedness that usually occurs when standing up or rising from bed too quickly and your blood pressure can’t adjust to the change in position.
  4. Meniere’s Disease: A disorder of the inner ear which causes an abnormal amount of endolymph in the inner ear. This causes the following symptoms:
    • Recurring episodes of vertigo that usually last 20 minutes to several hours
    • Hearing loss
    • Tinnitus (ringing in the ear)
    • Feeling of fullness in the ear
